Curriculum Technologist - Space & Astronomy

Role Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Curriculum Developer with a background in Robotics Engineering to join our Space & Astronomy department in Chennai. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, documenting, and implementing hands-on robotics and IoT-based learning modules for students across various age groups. You will contribute to developing high-impact educational content, competition formats, and online programs aligned with futuristic STEM learning goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Design & Documentation

    • Develop structured and age-appropriate curriculum for Robotics, IoT, and interdisciplinary projects aligned with space and astronomy themes.
    • Document lesson plans, activity sheets, teacher guides, and student handbooks to ensure seamless implementation.

  • Hands-on Activity Development

    • Conceptualize and build engaging, real-world robotics and IoT projects for school-level learners.
    • Prototype activities using sensors, controllers, actuators, and communication modules.

  • Research & Development

    • Stay updated with emerging technologies in Robotics, IoT, and Space Tech, and integrate them into curriculum and activities.
    • Explore and test new tools and kits for potential integration.

  • Content Creation for Online Programs

    • Design and record educational videos, interactive assignments, and assessments for self-paced learning.
    • Ensure alignment with national and international STEM education frameworks.

  • Competition Format Design

    • Create engaging and challenging competition modules for different age groups, ranging from elementary to high school level.
    • Define rules, scoring parameters, themes, and required resources.

  • Outreach & Training Activities

    • Conduct webinars and virtual workshops for students and educators.
    • Represent the organization in external meetings, conferences, and community STEM events.

Technical Skills Required:

  • Strong understanding of robotics systems – including microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi), sensors, and actuators.
  • Proficient in programming languages like Python, C/C++, Blockly or other visual programming tools used in education.
  • Familiarity with IoT protocols (e.g., MQTT, HTTP) and cloud-based platforms like ThingSpeak, Blynk, or Firebase.
  • Hands-on experience with robotics kits such as Lego EV3/NXT, VEX, Makeblock, or custom DIY kits.
  • Comfortable using CAD software for simple design tasks (e.g., Tinkercad, Fusion 360).
  • Ability to document curriculum using tools like MS Office, Google Workspace, Canva, or Notion.
  • Knowledge of video editing tools (e.g., Camtasia, Filmora, or OBS) for creating online content is a plus.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a curriculum development, STEM education, or hands-on R&D role.
