Position Summary:
We are seeking a visionary and academically strong Subject Lead – Curriculum Development for our Space & Astronomy division. The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s in Astrophysics and bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in STEM education, curriculum design, and research-based content development. This leadership role is responsible for shaping and delivering a future-ready, hands-on learning experience in space science, astronomy, and astrophysics for students across age groups.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Strategy & Development
- Design and lead the development of structured, progressive curricula in Space Science and Astronomy for K-12 learners.
- Translate complex astrophysics concepts into age-appropriate, activity-based modules that foster experiential learning.
- Align curriculum with international STEM education frameworks and emerging scientific developments.
2. Hands-on Learning & Project Design
- Conceptualize engaging projects and classroom activities involving astronomy kits, simulations, telescopes, and observational tools.
- Collaborate with technical teams to integrate relevant technology like sensors, software (e.g., Stellarium, Celestia), and data visualization tools.
3. Research & Content Innovation
- Conduct scientific research to support curriculum development and stay updated on discoveries, trends, and mission data from ISRO, NASA, ESA, etc.
- Integrate current events, space missions, and planetary science into learning experiences to keep content fresh and relevant.
4. Leadership & Team Management
- Lead a team of curriculum writers, trainers, and academic collaborators in the development and rollout of programs.
- Review and ensure academic accuracy, clarity, and engagement across all content deliverables.
5. Online & Hybrid Program Development
- Create content for digital platforms, including explainer videos, interactive simulations, assessments, and guided activities.
- Ensure programs are scalable and accessible for students in remote, hybrid, or after-school settings.
6. Competitions, Webinars & Outreach
- Design and oversee space-themed competitions, quizzes, and science fairs for different age groups.
- Conduct student webinars, educator training, and represent the organization at conferences and workshops.
Required Technical & Academic Skills:
- Strong academic grounding in Astrophysics, Astronomy, or Space Science with an ability to simplify complex concepts.
- Experience with astronomy tools and software (e.g., Stellarium, Universe Sandbox, Celestia, Star Walk).
- Exposure to STEM pedagogies and hands-on learning methodologies.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Python, Excel, NASA open data portals) is an added advantage.
- Strong skills in curriculum documentation using MS Office, Google Workspace, and visual tools like Canva or Notion.
- Knowledge of video creation/editing tools (e.g., OBS Studio, Camtasia) for online content is a plus.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Astrophysics, Astronomy, or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in academic content development, science education, or curriculum leadership roles.
- Strong portfolio in creating structured and engaging science/STEM curricula.
